Learn to be a professional Dog Obedience Trainer with the Pawsitive Learning Academy! This specially-designed three-month program enables students to work one-on-one with an experienced Obedience Training specialist towards the goal of becoming a certified professional Dog Obedience Trainer. In five sections over approximately 300 hours, students will learn the psychology and science behind dog obedience training, hands-on techniques and unique insight into how to navigate the pet services industry and make working with the animals you love your rewarding career. Thanks to the resources of the Pawsitive Learning Academy, students will get extensive demonstrations and hands-on experience with training dogs of all breeds and ages! Some highlights of what you will be learning include: SECTION 1: Introduction to Dog Obedience Training Why will your clients want to get their dogs professionally trained? What are the basic principles and techniques of Dog Obedience Training? What are the different breeds of dogs that you will be working with? How do dogs experience the world and learn new behaviours? What are the differences between training puppies and grown dogs? SECTION 3: How to Teach Dogs… and their owners! What are the different methods of obedience training? How should you evaluate the best methods of training different types of dogs? How should you reinforce and discourage different behaviours? How can you teach owners to communicate with their trained dogs?
